The project “Boom Up” focuses on the potential of inner-city densification as well as on sustainability and the social value it can bring to the urban environment. The goal is to design a youth and community center that meets these criteria while also addressing the needs of the target group. The parking garage of the Kongress Palais in Kassel serves as the existing building site.
The center is envisioned as a meeting place for cultural, social, and athletic activities for both young people and the local community. It will include workshop spaces for music, dance, and film production, studios, as well as areas dedicated to various urban sports such as skateboarding, bouldering, parkour, basketball, and football. Additionally, there will be spaces allocated for urban gardening.
